How to organize your jewellery

How To: Organize Your Jewelry

When it comes to jewellery, I have an abnormal surplus of everything! So when it comes to organizing them, I’ve had major issues, especially since I have a surplus of most things. As a result of having so many pieces, I often found it difficult to remember what I had, and when I wanted something specific, I always had difficulties finding it or untangling it.
A while back, whilst doing my spring cleaning I decided I was going to organize all of my jewellery once and for all. I looked through all of my drawers and storage containers and categorized everything into sections; rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings etc. After a little rummage through Google and its solutions to my problem, I discovered a number of ways to organize and a couple of ideas to get creative. So I’m going to show you how I have organized, created and displayed all of my bits and bobs.

My collection of statement necklaces is always growing, and I've found it challenging to find a way to organize them so that they’re not entwined, they’re clearly visible and they’re not taking up too much room. I didn't want to buy any gaudy necklace holders and I didn't want to damage my walls by drilling hooks into them. So, after a little look around my house, I found something perfect!

I bought these suction cup hooks at Christmas time to hang my stockings, but I bought too many, so I was left with around 20 of them sitting in my drawers. So when I discovered a way to utilize them and save myself some money at the same time, it was perfect. I took four of them and divided my necklaces into sections (1. Short colorful statement necklaces 2. Long charm necklaces 3. Long chains 4. Plain necklaces).    I love that i can put them wherever i like, and i can move them about without leaving gaping holes in my walls. I put mine on the side of my wardrobe, here's what it looked like.

Finding somewhere to store all of my bracelets was slightly more difficult. I have quite a few bangles which is challenging to store in a container since it takes up a lot of room, and I can’t see what I have.  After a look on the web to see what was on offer, I figured I would be able to find something more attractive and less expensive. So i took a look around a couple of stores and i stumbled across this.
OK, so I’m not really sure what it is, possibly a toilet roll rack? But I thought it would be perfect to hold all of my bangles. It's really pretty, and bonus; it was on sale! I'm not sure if it's still for sale, but ill link the shop just in case. http://www.dunelm-mill.com/

So here's what they looked like once I’d displayed them.

My rings were probably the easiest to organize. The first shop I went into had a pretty decent size and value jewellery organizer, and the web is saturated with these sorts of products. Here’s the one I found at TK Maxx for £8. I liked this particular one because it had extra sections where i could put other little pieces that had no category.
Since there was so much room, I could put things like my ear cuffs, some ear studs that I wear all the time, hair clips and some of my watches etc. And this is how I organized them all.

My collection of earrings has to be my biggest collection out of everything I owned. I looked online for days and searched through numerous shops, but I couldn’t find anything to hold all of my earrings. So this called for a bit of DIY from an old photo frame and some metal mesh from the hardware store. This is how it turned out. I figured this post was getting quite long so I’ll save this DIY tutorial for another day if it’s requested.
